This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks. All is calm outside today, yesterday the weather was wild. I didn't even go out to the car as my raincoat was in it and jackets weren't enough to keep me dry. There's nothing important in the car just loo rolls and bird food. After doing a washing load and unpacking properly I was overwhelmed by tiredness. Seven days of travelling and socialising every day took its toll on me so I gave into it and slept a lot. It's a times like this I really feel my age! ☹️Today I'll be preparing for going to Glasgow tomorrow. My beloved cousin flew into London yesterday from Berlin. He's visiting his pregnant daughter first and then coming up to Glasgow on Monday. It'll be really lovely to see him again. Now I must make a move or two. There's stuff to sort out and things to do after my very idle Friday.Happy Saturday to everyone.11

Morning folks and thanks GERS. That blooming wind was back here too yesterday, so the calm and quiet start was short lived. So the pots still await emptying of the dying annuals - mostly geraniums - and a few perennials to cut back. Maybe this afternoon as it sounds like summer is clinging on for one more weekend.
This morning I plan on the bus ride to the next little town along. Not much is needed, just a top up of some f & v and a few bits from Home B. It's easier going there as the shops I want are near together and not far from the bus stop A bag of something nice may jump in my basket for my Strictly treat. So looking forward to the new season.
Apart from middle DGD the rest of them remain cv neg, I'll be amazed if they all escape it. Fortunately DGD isn't suffering with it, so far she just has a very mild sore throat.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. It would be nice to hear from them again. Take care all and stay safe xx

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy but warm - yesterday was really warm and forecast is the same for today. Yesterday I got 3 wash loads line dried so 1 load of DS1 work clothes in the WM as we speak.
Menfolk here all either watching catchup tv, or still in pits. DS2 happy and settled. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken steaks, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and salad. Not sure what we're eating tonight but should be able to find something.
I'll be going out shortly to pick up a newspaper and some weed killer - weeds seem to have appeared from nowhere.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Dull and misty here so I hope it brightens up later I have a towel wash on the go and another to go in after so it would be good to hang them out for a while.
We are waiting for the chimney sweep to come this morning, I fully expect him to arrive dressed as in Mary Poppins and singing Chim Chiminie, I shall be very dissapointed if it doesnt happen !
Still nothing from work I have done everything I can now so I am just going to wait till they contact me, I have a feeling that they are trying to think of a way to get rid of me but they have to be careful, I shall wait and see !
DD is going to a day music festival today and staying over with her friend so I am pup sitting for the day and night I dont mind at all as she rarely goes anywhere without her.
I think I will do some fish for dinner with roasted new potatoes and green beans I shall steam the beans and then fry off in some butter and garlic.
Have good days all xxx10 -
Hi everyone,
Gers, I know how you feel but my tiredness is from spending the day with a very active, curious 22 month old. I feel a bit as if I've been put through a wringer although I love every minute. Steve and Brian played 33 holes so they didn't get back till it was dark and then there was the problem that Brian's petrol tank was empty. Most of the stations around were empty (we live near the A1 so lots of traffic queueing for fuel). Luckily he managed to get some from a Tesco a few miles away but it all took time and they didn't leave till 9. I think Laura felt very strange having an evening by herself.
Not a lot going on here today, I have a cooked chicken that needs stripping and will go in a curry sauce for dinner, so not too effortful.
Have a good day.10 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Yesterday was an on/off day, I am battling with myself over my second embroidery machine, I have not touched any embroidery since I finished niblets quilt......it is a shame its standing doing nothing.
Gardener came yesterday afternoon, planted up the plants I had laid out on the bit of garden near the bird house, if it does not rain I will have to water them every day. I set to and finished taking the geranium cuttings, so two more planters can be emptied, but not till after they have emptied the green waste bin next Thursday, the grass is getting cut this morning and the clippings will fill the bin up. There is just one white geranium that is still flowering well, I will take the cuttings off that in a couple of weeks. All the cuttings are now in the greenhouse, DB has lettuce coming on in there, and also some french beans.
Its a dull morning although DB says it is warmer than yesterday, it needs to be, it was think woolly sock time last night.
I did 7 chicken thighs in the Ninja yesterday, finished them off in the air fryer, crisps up the skin lovely. We will have a couple tonight, will do veggies etc. The rest will go in the freezer for later.
No idea why, the milk man left 2 x 2litre bottles of milk this morning, will have to ring the dairy and left them know. One 2L bottle lasts us till Wednesday.

Morning everyone
I have 'wasted' a lovely half hour looking for a doctor's set for little one's Christmas present. Ended up finding a lovely wooden one with a stethoscope that makes a noise. Of course it's more expensive than a plastic one, but DD and I both love wooden toys.
Great excitement this week as she went to the hospital on Monday and is now allowed to drink liquids...she was so happy bless her. Just 3oz at a time and it has to be mixed with a thickener but good progress. I was sitting last night teaching her how to drink out of a cup without a spout without it going straight down her front - needs a bit more practise but she'll get there.
The worry is that at her next appointment in a couple of weeks time they will find that it is still affecting her lungs and stop her drinking again - that would be very upsetting for her. Fingers crossed.
So I need to go down for a little shopping this morning and will call at mam and dads on the way back. Little one will arrive at about 1 as DD is working and she'll stay tonight. It's meant to be a lovely weekend here so my washing is out and we'll get a play in the garden later.
Gers - pleased you enjoyed your trip away and good news that your cousin is visiting from Germany.
Snoozer - you have my sympathies - I'm always shattered at the end of a day with little one, but it's so lovely being a granny isn't it?
TA - hope your granddaughter stays ok and the rest of you don't catch it.
Redruby - when my girls were little we had a lady chimney sweep - my youngest DD was fascinated and would 'help' her. She was always so excited when she was coming.
Well, I'd better move myself. DD has just texted to ask if I want to go to lunch so that will be nice.
Hope everyone has a good day12 -
Good morning all

Morning all. Dull and grey. I went to bed super late and woke up super early so I came and lay down on the sofa ,covered myself with a blanket and put some mindless programmes on to snooze to. Weighed myself and am only two pounds heavier than my lightest losing weight weight so I am very pleased about that. I thought it was going to be a lot worse. Didn't have time to finish making the moussaka yesterday but the potatoes are ready, now I just have to cook the aubergines. I'll do that after I snooze again.I used the Too Good to Go app last night for the first time ever, some M&S food, I think I had a pretty good haul and a lot of it went in the freezer. I just wanted to try it out and see what it was like, verdict, pretty good but not sure it's going to be a regular thing. Not planning on doing much today, arm and shoulder hurting after chopping the kindling and a lovely big blister on my thumb but underneath the skin if that makes sense but at least it's all done now and neatly bagged or put away. Now I have to find someone to sharpen my hatchet again, there are a couple of nicks out of it. I may go and do some garden putting to bed, the tomatoes need ripening so I'll remove all the leaves, the beans need picking, I like to use them to make picalilli, which only I eat so I'll halve the amount this year. I do love it though...Enjoy more family meeting Gers. TA,hope you manage to put some stuff away. Csarina, how do you do your cuttings and then what do you do with them? Nanny, jigsaws are always more important than housework..and much more fun
Have a great day all,or at least a day of no horrible stuff.
