Posting item to Hospital

I have sold an item today that has to be posted to a particular ward in a Hospital.
I will be sending by Royal Mail 2nd class small parcel but am not sure if this is a normal thing and do they actually deliver mail to patients?

No. The hospital will have a delivery point and mail will be moved internally from there.
This varies from hospital to hospital really. It could even be delivered to a completely different building and moved via internal mail

I think I would phone the hospital or look on their website to see what arrangements are in place.  They might be wary of receiving items on bio-security grounds.
I know that some hospitals were asking anyone wanting to send a letter to friends or family who were inpatients to email their letter or photos which they would print out.
