Why did I go with this company again and let them scam me out of my money with their mis selling, I have never known a company like them, they do everything to get out of paying a claim, after paying my £95 excess they send an engineer out to say that my boiler is unrepairable because it is 10 years old, when in fact it is 6 years old, when I questioned this they said that it must of been in storage for a few years before British Gas installed it, they then say that the repairs will cost £313, when I would only qualify for £288 as per there t&c so therefore they will not repair it. I asked could they not pay the £288 and I would pay the excess and they said “no” as per t&c, this company is shocking and something needs to be done about it.
Who can I complain to further

All sounds fairly standard. Is it an insurance policy?
usually the first step is to complain formally to the company.
its perfectly standard to have clauses not to repair if it isn’t financially viable.
sometimes this result in replacement instead.
have you check what you are entitled to according your policy?
have you questioned that with them?
if you simply don’t qualify under Terms and conditions then you don’t have a valid complaint1 -
As above. Are they adhering to the terms and conditions you agreed to, or are they in breach of them?0

BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR - In the opinion of our approved engineer, we are unable to repair your boiler. We use an industry standard formula to calculate the BER value, using the boilers purchase value, age, make and model. The table illustrated below outlines how the BER value is calculated. The boilers current market value is calculated by looking at the purchase value and applying a 10% depreciation on this value for each year that the boiler has been in use (age of the boiler). We may provide repairs of up to 80% of the boiler’s current market value.
You need to establish the age of the boiler as they only cover it for 10 years.
If they no longer cover it then you should not be paying for the plan.0
