Can a solicitor speak to a beneficiary?

My elder brother and sister are executors for my parents estate.
My parents died within 7 weeks of each other.
A solicitor is being used, the sale and completion of my parents house was 12 months ago - probate gained 18 months ago. The executors are now not answering any requests for an update.
Last we heard from executors was that the solicitor who was dealing with the estate had left the company and a new solicitor who would be taking over the case would be starting with the firm the beginning of September.
I have spoken with the firm today and found out the new solicitor specialises in criminal law? I don’t know if myself and my younger brother are being lied to or if the executors are being given false information.
The solicitor dealing with the estate has said I have to get information from the executors.
Can the solicitor give me any information?

I would like an explanation as to why it is taking so long and an expected date.
There will be a considerable amount of money from the sale of the property, will this be sat in the solicitors account?

It sounds as if the solicitor has been employed to do the work while your siblings stay as executors. Unless the solicitor is given permission by the executors to talk to you, he/she can't.1

Correct. You aren't the client, so they can't give you information, and have correctly referred you to the executors.callie72 said:

Cash sitting in a solicitors' client account doesn't earn interest for the solicitors and there are strict rules about what they can keep and for how long. If the sale was 12 months ago, I'd expect the cash to have been transferred to the executors' account.callie72 said:

Sounds like a case for an application for Inventory and Account to get some action. https://sintons.co.uk/personal-family-probate/inventory-and-account/ gives an explanation of what that is.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!2
