Balance Transfers

I am looking at the Virgin 0% balance transfer offer for 9 months. In gerneral does any one know if it is possible once accepted, to transfer a balance from another card (my partners) to my own personal card ie taking on his debt? Thanks for any help.

No. The debt simply becomes yours. A credit card will not know that the account number you quote for a balance transfer is not yours. [NB Virgin is a 'super balance transfer' card also. Balance transfers straight to your bank account are allowed]

I must have interpreted the question differently to Milarkey because I think the answer is "yes". If you mean .... your partner has a credit card with a debt (presumably paying interest) and you want to know whether you can BT his credit card debt onto your brand new Virgin card with a 0% balance, then the answer is "yes". As long as it is a valid card number and expiry credit card companies don't seem to care.

However, as Milarkey did suggest, if you move the debt from his card to one in your name, then the debt (legally) becomes yours not his, so if he disappears off, you are left with the debt - not him.
