Timeshare exit scams?

Has anybody dealt with a company called Arbitration Consultants from Tenerife?  We have a timeshare that we now want to sell and we received a random call (cold call) from this company saying that they can get us out of our contract and reclaim the money was paid for the timeshare, all the maintenance we have paid since 2007 and also compensation - too good to be true!  Foolishly we have handed over a payment and they are going to take more money from us when we return from annual leave mid-October.  It just doesnt feel right that we are handing money over for a service that may not take place.?

It's almost certainly a scam.  I know of a couple going through exactly the same process - they've handed over thousands over time.

Do not send them any more money.  What you've sent is almost certainly lost.

These companies, and there are quite a few of them tend to work on the basis that you were susceptible to hard sell once you will possibly be a target again. If you search both google and this forum for similar stories it will show that it is extremely rare for any of these cold calling companies to achieve anything except to make themselves money on getting people to sign up for their service.
