Autoaid
Just had my renewal for Autoaid, gone up again, last year paid £60, this year £65.
But looking at their site, (https://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/) there is the option to use Autonational for half the price if using vehicle based cover as against personal cover.
Am thinking as I only use one car it would cut the cost in half.
Any opinions or pro's and cons?

I only use the one car and have always just use vehicle cover, don't see any point in going personal for the very slim off chance I'll be in a another car that breaks down and the owner themselves doesn't have cover with it.
Just renewed mine with Start Recue for £25.2 -

Just renewed mine with Start Recue for £25.Have you had to use them?If so what is their rating?I would nee the £30.80 cover as I would like the home assist.

I tend to agree. I think where AutoAid comes into its own is where you've got husband & wife, two cars in the household, both people drive both cars. It then works out as good value. But for a single person with one car, there are definitely cheaper options out there.

I've not had to use them myself but my Dad has and he said he couldn't fault them. They do generally have a very good reputation.0 -
On a side note, and something I just found out when I renewed with Start Rescue, Apparently Roadside Recovery only applies over set minimum distance from your home address in a lot of cases. With Start Rescue, for example, it used to be 1 mile but they've just dropped it to 1/4 mile (which is how I now know), so in other words if you broke down within this distance then you couldn't get it recovered. I suppose this is where Home Assist comes in as that covers the car up to that distance from your home.
Something to be aware of, and not something I was until now, worth checking the fine prints in your policies.0 -
After many years of using AutoAid [but never claimed] they were no longer cheapest. So this year got it from Eversure. Not claimed so don't know how good they are.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

If it's only 1/4 mile then I'm sure it would be feasible to get the car just more than that distance away.Jenni x0 -

They do generally have a very good reputation.Just tried to use Start rescue and my quotes are, £52.01. £56.80. £65.05. only quoting first 3 levels of cover. My car is 25 years old so that may be the reason.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
