What surprised me was people were managing to convince their bank to reclaim multiple payments going back several months.
I wonder if the SoLR has any powers to reclaim that money. It's essentially theft as those payments were correct and due at the time they were taken.
Definitely this. There have a been a few threads where posters have bullishly stated that they have reclaimed prior DD payments, but I simply don't see how the guarantee covers them in this situation.

If they actually managed to 'blag' a refund (I can't really think of another way of putting it) then great, but I also wonder if that's really the end of the matter once the SoLR starts going through the detail. Let's face it, they are going to be pretty cash strapped themselves the way things are going!

Well, as I hypothesised on the other thread, I doubt it.

If you are in credit, it is your money. In reality, the SoLR is the one who pays for any credit balance (supported by an "optional" claim on the distributor levy), and you reducing it would actually be a benefit to them as it reduces their liability to you.

Equally, if you are in debt you do actually owe it, but to other creditors (via the administrator). The SoLR are not obliged to take over the debts and can leave it with the administrator to deal with, though they aren't able to make a determination on a case-by-case basis, obviously.
