Electric radiator reccomendation.

Options
Can anyone give advice on an electric radiator please.  Obviously I realise they are not the most economical way of heating somewhere but it's only to take the chill off an unheated conservatory now the  mornings/evenings are cooler. I really would like something  wall mounted, probably 2kw ,reasonably modern and with a timer although I could use a plug in timer if necessary.  I have no idea which are the most efficient, ie oil filled, water filled, convector or fan assisted but any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

They are all as efficient as each other, but costly to run.  I'd use an oil-filled radiator.

They are all as efficient as each other. But some are a lot more expensive than others.

They will all cost about 40p per hour to run.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Dimplex OFX oil-filled panel radiators are not the most attractive, but they give the best heat delivery, IMHO.

They are no longer made since they are not 'Lot-20 compliant' but are still available in various sizes, with or without timer, from a few places and both new and used on popular auction sites.  The wall-mounting brackets are also still available, e.g.

  • We had a chunky Delonghi oil filled radiator in our last flat with no central heating. Worked brilliantly.

I'm electric only and have installed Millheat wifi heaters - lthey ook good, but are no more efficient than any other electric heater, but the app control means you can set the temperature and times you want it on/off (or override if needed), which may be more economical than just using a timer alone.
https://www.millheat.co.uk/  - they have a range of models/types and it also tells you what room size they suit

Have a look at free-standing oil-filled rads - some of them are very 'cast-iron radiator' in appearance, so not an eyesore in my opinion.
As said above, they all have the same 'efficiency'; 2kW in = 2kW out. How they then give that heat to the room can vary. Oil-filled rads tend to have stable temps, whereas 'element' type can fluctuate in output as they switch on and off. Oil-filled also have a nice combination of radiated (so you have a cosy side) and convected (so it spreads around the room) output.
Another advantage of free-standing is that you can store it away during Summer, and if you chose a neat unit, it'll look fine in place; wall-mounted panel rads always look ugly... :-(
