Prepayment Meter - How are init costs updated?

Does anyone know how the unit costs are updated on the electricity prepayment meters? (the one with the key you top up in a shop)
I can only assume it’s updated via the key somehow when you top it up and pop it in the meter.
Wondering if it’s worth me topping up the maximum amount before the price hike on the 1st or if it’ll auto switch over regardless on that date.

On either a standard meter or a smart meter the unit rates and the standing charge rates will be on there. Check by clicking through the display. If you have issues with it not updating call your supplier0
