Avro Energy query

Recently moved into a new property, tried to open an account with EDF but had a message saying current supplier has refused (Avro) couldn’t get hold of them via phone so sent an email off last week, seeing they have gone bust now what would happen for me? We had no account with them and have never been able to make contact. Will EDF now be able to take over the energy? And also will we have any outstanding bill? All seems a bit confusing now as we have never actually had an account with them. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Best thing you can do is sit tight and wait until whoever is appointed to take over AVRO customers (me included) is appointed. They will contact you, but it might be several weeks. Then you can then decide whether to stick with new supplier, or switch elsewhere.

Unless you've already done so, take photos immediately of your meter readings as evidence. I'm also going to take regular (weekly?) photos as time goes on.

You'll also need to budget for fuel bills as you won't be paying anything for a while.
  • A friend of mine, whom I help with energy switches as he's not particularly tech savvy had this email from Sainsbury's Energy as well, as he'd applied for the 2yr fix with them when all this kicked off a few days ago... The deal has since been pulled and now it looks like he won't be able to avail himself of the Sainsbury's deal because Avro are "refusing". I'm in exactly the same boat, applied for a transfer to Sainsburys the day before him and I haven't received an email like this as yet. It's a ludicrous situation for him and possibly me to lose out on this fixed deal!
