Checking if searches are progressing

Hi
I have read a few posts about long delays in receiving local searches and some people have said they have contacted the council to check progress.
What can the council tell you as you are not the one that's requested it?I am just wondering when I can expect searches to come back for my sale and how my buyer is progressing.

Do you know when they were ordered? Most councils give an indication on their website e.g. https://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/local-land-charges-FAQs0

According to the council website it's 48hours and they were ordered 2 weeks ago.
I appreciate my solicitor is very busy with the stamp duty looming and getting people completed. So I was just wanting to do some of my own digging.
More concerned about our buyer who received draft contracts 1st September and has not made any contact with mine.0 -
You won't know if they applied direct or used an agency to deal with the searches.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

48 hours! Our council is saying 25 days, which has made us miss the SD deadline. 2 weeks sounds very reasonable in comparison...0
