Oaknorth. How long does a deposit transfer take?

I opened a notice account today with Oaknorth. I deposited a £2 tester from my HSBC current account and it was credited in to my new Oaknorth account immediately.
I then transferred a more substantial sum at 1pm.
I then got a fraud alert text from HSBC asking me to confirm I wanted to proceed which I agreed to.
By 4pm the transfer of funds had not appeared in my Oaknorth account. I phoned Oaknorth and was told the next "batch" would be processed at 4.30pm and would appear in my account immediately after that.
It's now 7.30pm and the transfer has not appeared.
Oaknorth website says deposits will be processed within 1 business day so I'm hoping it'll all be well by tomorrow afternoon but is this normal when faster payments are used by both HSBC and Oaknorth?

I also had the same query. I did a transfer around the same time and nothing has shown up in my Oaknorth Bank account yet.

Update - showed up in my account around 8am

Panic over! The transfer was in my Oaknorth account this morning.
ischris85 - We may sound paranoid but there's so many hackers around these days that, until the transaction's complete, you always have a niggling worry especially when you get fraud alerts from your bank.

I can't remember whether OakNorth is one, but watch out for the companies who don't work over the weekends because payments and transfers made late on Friday afternoons sometimes don't end up arriving until the following Tuesday ! Now that's a tense wait - I never learn  :D
  • HSBC have often refused to transfer funds to small banks or banks with low credit ratings. There are a few other posts on this board on this subject. The delay might have been caused by both banks.

I couldn't find OakNorth on a list of the 50 UK banks with the highest credit rating. When transferring funds, you should be aware that HSBC are top of the list while OakNorth are not on the list.
