Hello I opened cynergy bank easy access account a couple of weeks ago & I've been topping it up over the last week with savings.

I received an email on Monday

I phoned cynergy bank yesterday and they said it's a genuine email from us.

Has anyone else had this sort of thing from cynergy Bank asking my annual income and how I accrued my saving my last Job etc.

No.  Have opened multiple Easy Access Savers with them over the years and never had that...having said that,of course, after the first one each other one has been opened as an existing customer so that might have made a difference.

Cynergy seem to not know what they are doing. I tried to open an account not so long ago but they asked for identification to be sent. They wanted a copy of passport sending with validation by a solicitor. I don't do solicitors so I didn't put money in the account and went elsewhere. Then I got an email saying my application was accepted and why hadn't I put any money in. I told them why and they opened a complaint which I hadn't really asked for. Actually got a letter in the post the other day about my "complaint" saying they were still investigating.
  • I phoned cynergy bank up again yesterday and told them I was not happy with all the questions they were asking me.

I think it's worked as I've not heard back.

Best not be too complacent that your approach has worked, based on not hearing back within 24 hours - it's entirely possible that a letter advising you of account closure could be in the post as we speak....

Hmmmmmmm now you've got me thinking you could be right with the number of questions they were asking me.😏

I must have had about 10 emails from them asking questions until I phoned cynergy &, told them.

Just started an ISA with Cynergy. However, HSBC wouldn't recognise Cynergy as a legit company and flags up when I try to transfer money to ISA

To the OP, this happened to me a few years ago.

I visited a local branch with the information they requested because I didn’t feel secure sending it by email.  The manager I spoke to said it was a random check and not targeted specifically to me.

I have banked with them on and off for a few years now without any further issues.

What do you mean by "wouldn't recognise Cynergy as a legit company"? Do you mean they don't participate in Confirmation of payee? If so then quite a number of savings account providers do not.

Some financial institutions are dependent upon the major banks for their banking services.
