How can we pay by credit card and walk away with purchase today

The saxophone shop my son has just purchased a saxophone in has refused to allow me to pay for it by credit card.
We wish to do this so it is protected under Section 75 as it is such a large amount.
He doesn't have a credit card as he is a student.
They say I can't pay over phone because they don't know who I am.
We asked to pay over internet so it is secure for them - but they said it would have to be delivered.
We don't want it delivered as it will get knocked etc in transit
What can we suggest to shop so it is protected by credit card and son can go home with it today.
He does not want to travel into London again to pick it up.
Many thanks

Don't buy it from them. They're being deliberately difficult in not allowing you to pay over the phone.1

Not much. You can't force them to accept credit card payments remotely, so ultimately, you can just take your business elsewhere.Sunflower444 said:The saxophone shop my son has just purchased a saxophone in has refused to allow me to pay for it by credit card.

Nothing really as you are not purchasing from the shop .Its their choice as to what payment they will take .1

You may find you have no S75 cover anyway as you are purchasing it for your son.Sunflower444 said:The saxophone shop my son has just purchased a saxophone in has refused to allow me to pay for it by credit card.

Taking payment over the phone is risky for the shop. My husband took an order over the phone, paid by credit card and was collected.
Two weeks later the police arrived to inform him that the card had been stolen and the it was not the original owner who had ordered and collected the item.
The money was taken back.

I disagree. They have a valid reason for not accepting payment over the phone. It's an expensive item and OP and their son could be a pair of scammers for all the shop knows. The shop's stance seems reasonable to me, although they might lose a genuine sale as a result.red_boots2 said:Don't buy it from them. Agree with @Aylesbury_Duck .they are just trying to prevent fraud... nothing wrong with that.. cost us all in the long run.3

Yes, you're probably right. I was too quick to Judge.Aylesbury_Duck said:

A caveat though is they could simply ask for photo ID to be sent of the son and the mother / father depending on who is paying.2 -
How does that prove that the person at the end of the phone is the owner of the credit card.
Also, as stated above if you use your card to buy on behalf of someone else, there will most likely be no S75 protection.
You are only covered of you benefit directly from the purchase.

Thank you all for your quick responses. I have retracted my e-mail to shop explaining I now under stand fully why they wouldn't want to do it. Not a lot of point if Section 75 won't apply.
Time for me to stop trying to help (interfering) son
He needs to get his own credit card for big purchases
