Avro Energy - credit owed *after* switching away from them

And their web site is no longer available at the lower levels so you can't check what your current credit level is !0

Just seen that - is there any other way to know what balance is? Also, recent bills have been estimated but I think actual usage may be a lot higher from heater for pool over summer in garden. Will this be at old rate or suppliers new rate?bob_a_builder said:And their web site is no longer available at the lower levels so you can't check what your current credit level is !0 -
I think the appointed supplier will have a lot to be unhappy about, given the way Avro seem to have behaved over the last year (or perhaps more). Do they get any choice about being appointed? I can't imagine anyone's going to want it, especially currently. The supplier appointed by Ofgem to take over a failed supplier's customer is responsible for refunding the credit balance - even if you had already left the failed supplier.
So if Avro fail, your balance will eventually be returned by whoever Ofgem appoint0 -
If ALL the suppliers fail who are currently being discussed in the press, then we are talking about maybe 4-5 million accounts. Can't see ANY single Company being able to take all of these, especially with the energy cap being set below actual cost ,so I suspect the Govt. will have to appoint a special administrator to manage this. What a mess its going to be - but BoJo says its only a blip ,so OK then !!!siwilks said:

Given that no customers now have access to their online account to verify their current credit nor to download their statements, will these records be made available to customers by Avro Energy or by the new supplier?siwilks said:

I can foresee real disputes about credit amounts with the new supplier. Surely a company cannot just shut down their website and not allow customers to access their account to gather their records to assist the new supplier? But I guess they can.0 -
I mistakenly thought I owed Avro money and paid around £300 to them 2 months ago - but I was already in that much credit.
I "think" I'm now around £800 in credit............BUT cannot access the website, cannot upload new meter readings (that we've been advised to record), cannot get access to any previous bills and have no way of "proving" what my credit is should it be challenged later.
I'm not concerned about the whole change supplier thing as it will happen eventually and I can look for another tariff then. Even though my Avro fix had gone up by 35% six weeks ago, I know that another hefty increase is coming.
BUT I cannot see why access to the website accounts is restricted, even for viewing.
The saving grace of it all is that once the damaged electric cable is fixed and we up our north sea gas output, we will see prices come right back down again - ok, that's not going to happen either is it.

The moral of the story is to keep your own records. As soon as a bill becomes available download and store safely. Keep a record of meter reads, bills and payments so you can work everything out. If my supplier went bust today it would take me less than 5 minutes to work out the status of my account up to the minute.

Ofgem run a competition to appoint the new supplier. However, if they can't get a volunteer, they have the power to appoint one.siwilks said:

I don't know enough about these things - I suspect because of limited liability it isn't - but it certainly feels like that should be fraud.0
