  • Given the OP took the last thread no further I doubt this will progress fully

Worked for a major company for eight years and we recently had a new 21 plate van turn up for me to use as part of my job for the company.
Never had a GPS tracker fitted in any of my previous vehicles and not too happy about it especially as when I checked the 21 plate vans at a bigger depot and none of them have them fitted. I believe this could be personal.
They don't come as standard fitment and I wasn't consulted that one would be fitted. Based that other branches don't have them is there any case for me to complain?
Only if you can demonstrate that the reason only your van has a tracker fitted is because of your race/sex/religion etc
    Exactly this ^^^^^

Plus "having it in for an employee" / "putting them under the spotlight" / "increased supervision" etc etc are not in themselves unlawful.

And on what authority were you doing that?

As far as I am aware there is no requirement to tell an employee that there is (or isn't) a tracker on a company vehicle they may drive.

Even if I am wrong and there is a requirement (??) then they would still only have to inform you, not ask your permission.

Clearly, based on your previous post, trust is breaking down. Frankly you either need to take positive steps to regain their trust or find another job.

My understanding is that there's still a lot of grey areas in this but the consensus is that an employee should be advised if a vehicle tracker is installed, and that if the vehicle can also be used for private use they must be able to turn off the tracker. I suspect that there is still case law to be made here, but the OP will probably be on a hiding to nothing trying to make a case. If nothing is being done that shouldn't be done, then there's no real reason to care about it. Just as my employer can examine by email account and computer usage any time they want because the stuff I wouldn't want then to see isn't on there.
  • You may be able to argue you're being micromanaged however ask yourself if there may be a cause for this.
