The only one with a GPS Tracker fitted in work van

Worked for a major company for eight years and we recently had a new 21 plate van turn up for me to use as part of my job for the company.
Never had a GPS tracker fitted in any of my previous vehicles and not too happy about it especially as when I checked the 21 plate vans at a bigger depot and none of them have them fitted. I believe this could be personal.
They don't come as standard fitment and I wasn't consulted that one would be fitted. Based that other branches don't have them is there any case for me to complain?

No. There's no requirement for them to fit all vehicles at the same time, or even at all.

As it's not your vehicle, there's no need for them to consult you on it.

Their vehicle. They can do as they wish. I suspect the story is contained within the statement that you think it's "personal".

As it's a company vehicle there is nothing to stop them installing a tracker.  It could reduce insurance policy costs.  It also has the benefit to the company that they can be sure the vehicle only goes where it is supposed to go.

The OP is free to ask why only his van has a tracker.

Of course you can complain. No one can stop you.  Rather pointless I'd say.  The fact you've taken it personally suggests that you do have something to hide. As the reasons for the company to start doing this make perfect sense. Nothing new for companies with a fleet of vehicles on the road.

Could indeed be personal, judging by what you've said in a previous post:

'About 2 weeks ago I as part of my job out on the road was asked to totally divert my route and collect from a certain depot which kind of got in the way of my last 2 deliveries, so I decided that I would do one of the last drops on the way and then divert up to where they wanted me to be.   The manager found out and took exception to this, as he rang me when I was on route to ask where I was, crazily as he was at the place that I was diverting to and he could bring the collection back himself, so it would have been a wasted journey for me anyway.  So the upshot I believe is that he wants to set an example of me, involve HR in a face to face meeting with him and me to get the situation logged.   Hope this enlightens you.    Thankyou'

What was the outcome of the disciplinary, if indeed there was one?

...but as others have said, it's a company vehicle and your employers can fit a GPS if they wish.

There is. In the link posted the op diverted his route his manager told him to take.

Only if you can demonstrate that the reason only your van has a tracker fitted is because of your race/sex/religion etc

You may find it more helpful to seize it as an opportunity to demonstrate to your managers that you can actually follow instructions you are given...

See it as a positive.
