Bulb Energy
I have Bulb. On my app it says that I have £107 credit but they want to put my monthly payment up and say that I used £130 this month which is higher than my monthly payment. On my smart meter it says I have used £54 so far this month, and i am averaging £60 since May. I pay £117 which explains the credit for gas and elec. Something is not adding up

They will probably be basing this on a profile where your winter consumption is higher.

So this is in advance then? I'm confused when they say I have used £130 in the last month but my smart meter says £54 with 2 days to go0

Looking at my bill they have taken readings every month but if my meter is saying something completely different which meter are they reading??0
-
Do the readings on the statement agree with what is showing on the meter or is the supplier using estimates?mowgli1 said:Looking at my bill they have taken readings every month but if my meter is saying something completely different which meter are they reading??0 -
I can only see the latest reading on the meter and it's in the right area. I'm not great with understanding how it all works but I cannot seem to get my head around how they can say I have used (not estimating or projecting) £130 this month when the meter is clearly saying £54 used this month so far and they take a reading on the 24th of each month, so I am going to use £80 in the next 2 days?0

Are you reading off the actual meter or the IHD?

The smart meter because it tells me the value used each month, why, are they different breadings?0

Are you talking about the IHD - the device that sits in your home - or the meter sitting in your meter box? The IHD will only show accurate costs if the supplier has updated the tariff information in each of your meters. I have no idea where the App gets its information from.0

I have been with Bulb since changing houses getting on for a month ago although moving to Eon in 9 days time. I do have an IHD with my SMETS2 meters and the thing seems to be accurate. It has the correct tariff information (Vari-fair), the correct unit rates and replicates the readings on both meters.
To the OP, are Bulb able to lift the meter readings remotely? If they can, they should be recorded in your account as 'Smart' readings. I'd also suggest that you set the smart readings to be done every half hour (the recommended setting) or at least every day. You will find this in your Account settings page. If Bulb are reading your smart meter then you should have accurate readings when they bill you.
The only way you can be sure of the £130 (app total) v £54 (IHD total) is to see if your account does have the listings of your actual reads (in the 'Energy Usage' section) and do your own manual calculation from 1st August till the date of the calculation.. FWIW, I don't have a smart phone so cannot comment on the accuracy of the Bulb App.1 -
Bulb take payments in advance so if you’re in credit £107 and pay £117 a month, that means at your last statement you were -£10.
as you’re meant to build up credit over the summer to be used in the winter, bulb would expect you to have £100 or so at last statement and £217 or more in your account total.
which is why they’re suggesting you increase your payments0
