Help for energy costs - not on benefits
I am a state pensioner but not on means tested benefits. I am on palliative care for stage 4 cancer. I must stay at home as an extremely clinically vulnerable person (only go out for medical appointments). Our heating bills rocketed last winter due to being at home 24/7 and it will only get worse this year.
Is there any funding that posters know of for people such as myself? I know that water charges are capped to an annual figure and wondered if gas/electric had a similar scheme in place.

I think you need to contact Macmillan, they will be able to check your benefit status is correct. You may be entitled to some more money, specifically thinking of Attendance Allowance, as well as the payment of this being awarded it may open up means tested benefits. It’s definitely worth a check.
They will also have knowledge and access to supplier schemes (if any exist), you should already have registered yourself as vulnerable with your own gas/electric and water suppliers, this means should there be a problem with the service you will be prioritised by those suppliers.
Macmillan will also know of any grants and trust you may be able to apply to for help. They’ll probably do all the hard work on your behalf if any are applicable.2 -
I would see if there is a telephone Citizen Advice Service. It might also be worth you doing a compare energy providers via the Citizen Advice Service or Which compare.0
