Literally just found out I’ll struggle to get car insurance too

    system
You are very unlikely to have difficulties getting car insurance because of a CCJ, you would however be likely to struggle to get a car insurance policy on finance, those are two very different issues.
Does that mean I’d have to pay it all up front?
    More than likely, yes.

I can only add my experience but I’ve had 2 ccj now currently at 1 but I’ve never had insurance refused paying monthly to name a few I’ve had were admiral LV and AA not sure if my monthly payments were more because of it but would be hard to know.

I’d have to compare when I didn’t have a ccj and to do that I’d have to go back 9 years to when I had a lot less driving experience so would of been a total different quote anyway I guess it’s a matter of doing some dummy quotes see what’s on offer

and on a side note I lost both my parents to alcohol abuse and seen first hand what it can do to a individual and a family so hope all is good it’s never to late to change
    £2820/£4000 0% 24 months pay £150 HSBC
    £2,100/£3000 0% 27 months pay £150 M&S
    £3,050/£4000 0% 27 months pay £150 HALI
    £2,200/£7250 0% 14 months pay £60  RBS
    £990/£2000 28% Zable closed  £60
    mortgage £22,000/£89,000 2 years left

I’ve been sober for the last year apart from a small relapse and a large one.

Which is way better than the previous 15 or so years.

im ok. I’ve started to accept it and realise I’ll be able to get round the ccj where needed. I have two huge debts I’m paying off that are equally screwing my credit anyway and will take 6 years to pay off.

I assume from what you posted that the CCJ is perhaps a year or two old? So you can focus on the fact 6 years from the date it was awarded it will drop off your file and each year it gets older it is taken into account by lenders a little less. Focus on the fact in 6 years from now you will have cleared your 2 big debts and have a clear credit file and can start again. 6 years sounds alot but in the grand scheme it will pass quickly. Sending you good thoughts as someone who has watched and supported a close relation through alcohol issues. Well done on being sober, watch for those triggers and you can be really proud this CCJ discovery was a hurdle you got over without relapsing. Well done onwards and upwards :)

Things like car insurance can usually be paid by instalments, whatever your credit file is like.

I had an insolvency on my file, yet had no trouble paying monthly for my insurance.

Usually when you get your quote and click on "pay monthly" those who are willing to offer that option will show up, the ones that don`t, won`t.

  • I had a CCJ removed for a parking fine. All the paperwork went to an old address. I literally had never heard or seen anything of this parking fine. The company issuing the fine along with their solicitors agreed to have it taken off via the court. It cost around £650/£700 in Solicitors fee's in total.

    I had 6 CCJS.
    I removed 3 of them
    3 of them dropped off

2 of them i removed directly by contacting lowell and TM Asset
1 of them LOWELL were being difficult dealing with me so had to use a solicitor that cost £500

Dont despair - you can easily get it removed. There are many ways to do it. Does not matter if you paid or not

You can't "easily" get it removed.

Lowell have no reason to agree to a consent order now they have their money and there are no grounds to have this set aside.

    Incorrect

    Ive had 6 CCJ removed

3 due to 6 years date
2 i removed directly contacting LOWELL and ASSET MANAGEMENT through consent order
1 removed was through solicitor (lenders court) - very good check them out

Lowell will agree to remove it because they have no interest in ruining peoples life , they got their money. If they do refuse you can apply to set it aside as you got a perfectly good excuse that you did not receive paperwork as you moved house

My situation was so much more complicated, i received the paperwork and had to go through all sorts to get my removed. Eventually it was done via consent order with lowell after i paid them and satisfied the CCJ
