I am travelling to Canada on 29th September. I know I need a  pre-arrival COVID-19 molecular test . Is this the PCR test? I am trying to order one on the Boots web site but having a lot of trouble. It keeps taking me back to the Day 2 and Day 8 form but I don't think this is the correct test. I am really struggling with this so advice would bemost appreciated.

info on the link you posted shows the acceptable tests
    https://www.boots.com/covid-19-testing
looks like you need the in-store or the at-home

Yes, you need a PCR test and to fill in the Canadian Arrive CAN form, which seemingly includes details of how you will quarantine if a random test on arrival is positive. The day 2 and 8 tests are tests when you have returned to the UK, if Boots cannot do a pre-departure test, its the same one of course but maybe their forms won't suit, then look for another provider
  • Thank you for your help. I thought Boris had said we don't need a test to comer back into the UK now?

    If you are
•arriving  from a non Red country
    •and are fully vaccinated
•and arriving back in England after 4th October
then you won’t need a pre- departure test to come back to England.

lots of travellers don’t meet this criteria ( e.g. non vaccinated, arriving before 4th Oct , travelling to Scotland etc ) so will  still need to take a PDT when travelling to UK which is why these tests are still available to purchase.

And the Day 2 PCR tests are still required even for vaccinated travellers- From the end of October, they will be Lateral Flow tests but still a Day 2 test is required.
