No Claims Bonus (Buildings/Contents)- does it survive on death?

Hi My father passed away earlier in the year and the policy transferred on death to my mother (who naturally lived at the same address).
We are about to renew in a month. Does the no claims bonus continue onward with my mother as the named individual on the account if we seek to switch provider or do I need to contact individual companies to find out?
Many thanks .

NCD doesnt exist with home insurance apart from the marketing of a handful of providers. So, if shopping around, its unlikely to come up apart from being asked if there have been any claims in the last x years. Some may ask how long ago a claim was but most won't.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Even for the few that do operate a NCD scheme the "rules" are not as standardised as they are in motor (which arent even that standard either). If her current insurers offer a NCD then the key will be to see what it says in the renewal letter.
What most insurers ask instead however is 1) How many claims in the last 3-5 years as dunstonh said but also 2) how long have you held insurance for. This one could be tricky if the insurance was historically just in your father's name rather than being in joint names.0 -
