Which EON/Sainsburys fix out of 12M/24M/36M do you recommend?bristolleedsfan said:n15h said:Octopus has informed that their fixed tariff for Gas for 12m or 24m is going to be 5.61p/kWh and standing charge of 26.10p! The only good thing with Octopus at the moment is no exit fees and you can switch to a cheaper tariff if the prices drop in the next 12-18m, instead of £15 cost with EON.
Just depends if EON is cheaper than Octopus when you fix, and as long as you make more than £15 saving by fixing with EON, then it makes sense to move to them and switch when prices drop (seems like a long 18-24m before that may happen).
E.ON Next/Sainsburys Energy have no exit fees, 2 year fix gas 3.83p per kWh E 19.28p per kWh subject to regional differences, standing charges similar, Octopus 2 year E rate 23.72 p/kW

3 weeks ago I fixed my gas prices for 24 months with Utility Point. Look where that got me, now will be forced onto EDF and presumably rip off prices.
Whole system is a rip off.0 -
I am also looking at the Sainsbury's fixed rate deals. The 2 yr is only slightly more per month than the 1yr but there is a sizeable difference in the standing charges which means it would cost £50 more in each year. As the nectar points face value is only £30 more than the 1yr I am interested in why most people seem keen to go for the 2 year deal. Is there a real expectation that price hikes over the next two years would negate this?1

Whole system is a rip off.The whole system has been a wobbling house-of-cards for a number of years now. A major collapse which will wipe out most of the players seems increasingly likely, ...imho.
Who know's how much we'll be paying in the coming months‽,....but wait,...we have OFGEM's Energy price cap ! ...yeah, right.

Good. I hope it happens. Obviously it will be consumers that suffer but just maybe there will be some heads roll at Regulators as well who just haven't been doing a good enough job. Chance would be a fine thing.Biggus_Dickus said:danlightbulb said:3 weeks ago I fixed my gas prices for 24 months with Utility Point. I went for the 24 mos with Sainsburys as there's the bonus of £60 nectar points. Only £30 with 12 mos.
Glad I did it last week when I started to pay attention to the twitching in the industry. First I asked Bulb to refund my credit which they did mostly. And now they appear to be in talks to keep them also collapsing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I went for the 24 month deal because of the £60 Nectar points - the difference in unit price was negligible, and no exit fees.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

Sainsbury also insist on a smart meter being fitted on their deals.

Really don’t want one but the cheapest deals all have them. Hoping to just put them off as long as possibleIan1961 said:Sainsbury also insist on a smart meter being fitted on their deals.0 -
