Hi,
I'm looking into starting my own webite. I'd like it running within indealy three weeks. Wordpress looks powerful, but a learning curve. I'm not at all technical. However, by the time I add a SEO plug in and other plug ins, I wonder if the costs will really start to increase. I need an small e-commerce site.
Therefore, Squarespace seems a faster route for someone who's not that technical. (I'm also setting up an etsy site at the same time. )I'd be very grateful for any advice.
What is the best way to buy a domain name? Godaddy or via squarespace? Or somewhere else?
Also, is it possible to move a squarespace website to Wordpress at a later date?

Low cost names is a good place for domain names, i use WIX for 4 websiites, very easy to use.1

Another vote for WIX - easy to get started with, but with a very wide range of add-on tools if you end up needing them.
There are lots of domain registration companies these days.1 -
Wix is that good? It looks like I'd better have another look at wix. I tried experimenting with making a Wix website a few months back. I only tried it for an hour. It did seem very easy, but the negative comments on Wix facebook page put me off.0

pearl123, what was a final result for you in building that website? I wonder of how much time should I spend for making my own WordPress plugins. And even I could find articles of how to create wordpress plugin on my own, I'm not quite sure that they would be reliable enough for all the situations, which may occur in the future.

I spent a while doing research into the various website builders. Wordpress looked interesting, but I could see that costs could mount up with plugins. For instance, SEO plugins. Plus, a learning curve.
I had a play around with squarespace. It seemed user friendly. I was slightly put of by reports that Squarespace SEO was not so good.
In the end, I was having free trials of both Squarespace and Wix. Wix came up with an offer of £100 a year for an e-commerce site. So i purchased for two years. The offer prompted my decision to go with Wix. Apparently, Wix has a better SEO. Wix seemed marginally easier to use that Squarespace.
I'm in the early days of creating my website on wix, as I got distracted with opening an etsy site.

If you are building an e-commerce site, be sure to check that it's accessible for assistive technology users. They have a good checklist to kickstart: https://support.wix.com/en/article/accessibility-checklist-for-improving-your-sites-accessibility1
