RBS PPI

Back in June I was informed that my PPI claim was with the payment team with RBS for a substancial payment. It doesn't seem to be moving anwhere. I called today for an update and they said it was being investigated still for insolvency etc. I stated that this has been done and it was confirmed with me in June that the claim was successful and with payments team. When i said this the guy on the phone said oh yes it is with the payments team but hasnt moved along yet. Just wandering if this is the case with anyone else and how long are people waiting for payments.

There will undoubtedly be a lot of people in the same boat. They may have confirmed to you in June it was ready for payment but they may be double checking or identified an issue with the person who was working your case and they’re re-checking their cases.

either way, the only people that can give you an update is RBS.

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'

The team that look at the complaint and decide the outcome is different to the payments team. They are checking whether you had arrears, defaults, amounts written off as part of an agreed settlement, bankruptcy or similar.

I stated that this has been done and it was confirmed with me in June that the claim was successful and with payments team.
So, are you saying that you have had both parts checked.  i.e. the original complaint which was successful and confirmation from the payments team that they have completed their check?

Things have slowed up significantly in things like this.   However, if it was only uphold in June, then mid September is not a particularly long time to wait for it.

my guess is that there's only a skeleton crew left at any of the banks looking at PPI.  given the deadline was a couple of years back any employer would be looking to reduce it's costs as quickly as possible and staff is a big chunk of that.  So no proper answer to your question, just the suggestion that you need to be patient.

  • Hi @Kimmyd121, I am in a similar situation to you I received a letter from RBS to say that they had decided to pay out my claim and that I was owed amount X.  I accepted online on August 28th and they have acknowledged that they received it.  However, after 13weeks I am still waiting, after a number of calls I am told it is with the payments team and before the 28days I got a letter to say it will take longer than usual.  But I'm at 92days now and nothing......   I check regularly as they said although I am suppose to be notified by text that might not happen due to the department being busy.

    Did yours ever get paid?
  • Hi

I am in a similar position. I accepted the offer from RBS on the 15th of July and am still waiting.
I have had no letter or communication from them since then and have had the same explanation as others when I have called them - "It's with the payments team. I cannot tell you anymore than that." etc

Has anyone been paid a PPI refund by RBS recently who could give an indication of how long they had to wait?
