Any suggestions on insurers offering cover for travel to destinations which the FCDO has advised against all but essential travel due to COVID?
I know within Europe Staysure offer this but not worldwide.
So far I have found:
Battleface
Nationwide Flexplus account
Voyager High Risk*

Nationwide is underwritten by Direct Line Group so you could look at their other brands
There are several international insurers that wont mention FCO because they arent UK based however buying from them tends to focus on medical cover rather than cancellation/delay/property and you wont have protection from the Financial Ombudsman if something goes wrong.1 -
Thanks I’ll follow that up.The Voyager product is quit amazing really. They can even cover you in Afghanistan and pay for kidnappings and the like. They must have access to some “interesting” contractors!0

Kidnap and Ransom is a class of insurance of its own, have never worked on it but have seen their data... the insured's name are always changed to code words that only a small number of people can decrypt as there is concern that if it becomes public knowledge that there is a £10m policy on someone that firstly they are more likely to be kidnapped and secondly you can bet the ransom request wouldnt be £1m if they knew the policy limit.Dr_Crypto said:Thanks I’ll follow that up.The Voyager product is quit amazing really. Political Risk and Crisis Management are another two fairly interesting lines of business
Whilst there may be some interesting contractors, the vast majority are surprisingly mundane0 -
If it is any help to anyone else I decided to use the Flexplus offer from Nationwide. It covers travel even when the FCO has advised against all but essential travel.Cancellation £5k per person, £10m medical, etc. Also includes breakdown and mobile phone cover.£13pm which is competitive. Cruise cover can be added.0
