Both my self and my partner have had both jabs and wish to go tto the canaries with our 14 year old daughter late in october / novemeber ,

The questions i have

 1.  Do any of us including my 14 year old daughter who hasnt had any vacine  have to have a test before leaving the u.k ?

2. will any of us have to do a test before we return to the u.k and what test will sufice ?

3. will any of us have to self isolate on our return ?

4. what tests are required when we have returned and do they need booking and ahow far in advance ?

5. do we all need to fill out location forms both ways ?

don't know what the rules will be late October / November but you can find current rules here
    https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements
and the changes planned for October see returning to England
    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2021/09/travel-update-15-16-sep/
  • As @Caz3121 says above the UK Government have said there is going to be a change to test requirements end of Oct , but the fine details haven’t  been announced yet .

You will have to wait until closer to the time of your holiday as any answer given now won’t be relevant by late Oct and you might buy tests that you will no longer need - (which will not be money saving )

To keep up to date with the changes you can sign up for e-mails alerts with the latest travel advice here https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/email-signup

  • thanks guys just reading from this main site
    and it says
From Monday 4 October - rules relaxed for fully vaccinated arrivals to England

    • The amber and green lists will be scrapped, leaving just a red list.
    • Pre-departure tests before arrival from a non-red list country will also be scrapped.
    • Fully vaccinated travellers from non-red list countries will only be required to take a day 2 PCR test post-arrival, with the day 8 test scrapped. See our Cheap Covid travel tests guide to find the cheapest.

    • Children over 10 will no longer be required to take a pre-departure test if their parents are fully vaccinated,

    • but all children over four must continue to take the day 2 PCR test (like their parents) until lateral flow tests are permitted in this scenario (see below).

Is this accurate for the children over 10 part ?

that refers to pre-departure for the flight to England rather than the outbound flight (which will be dictated by the country you are travelling to)

If travelling to Spain currently everyone over the age of 12 must have proof of being fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to arrival in Spain or
documentation certifying that you have undertaken a COVID-19 nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT - e.g. PCR, TMA, LAMP or NEAR) within 72 hours prior to arrival in Spain and tested negative. Antigen tests can only be used in certain limited circumstances (as outlined in section ‘k’ of the ‘Entry requirements for entry in Spain from third countries’ on the Spanish Ministry of Health ‘Travel and COVID-19’ page) and are not accepted if you are travelling from the UK to Spain for tourism purposes (see Reason for travel to Spain below for further information).
  • Ahh yes i see thanks , i wonder if children only need 1 dose of vaccine , i will see what i can find out
  • This is also the great unknown for me.  Son 12 getting Jagged with his one and only jag on Wednesday.  Hopefully classed as fully jagged for Spanish entry requirements a fortnight later.
