New Win-10 laptop: ‘Pin to taskbar’ ???

Options

New Win-10 laptop:

If I open ‘File Explorer’ and then right-click the ‘Documents’ folder it gives me the option to ‘Pin to Start’ and I can also create a ‘Desktop’ short-cut but I do not get the option ‘Pin to taskbar’.

I’d like to have the ‘Documents’ folder directly accessible via my taskbar. How do I do it?

All advice gratefully received.

If you have pinned the folder to the quick access in explorer, then also have file explorer pinned to taskbar, then just right click file explorer on task bar and you will get direct access to the documents folder from the taskbar.

You cannot pin shortcuts to the taskbar, only applications but within each application it can have recent and pinned items available from the right-click.

However there is a bit of a tricky workaround if the above is not good enough:

You can pin short cuts to the taskbar provided they link to applications (so you can have a desktop shortcut to Chrome for example and pin that to the taskbar) but you couldn't (officially) pin a shortcut to a Word document to the taskbar.  Also You can't create shortcuts for Windows Store apps, although they can be pinned to the taskbar.

You can pin documents to the taskbar via this long winded method:
