Santander ATM withdrawal in Spain

I seem to remember something about fee free withdrawal from Spanish Santander ATMs if you use your UK registered Santander debit card.
Is this still the case and if so, the best way to obtain euros in Spain. TIA

Santander apply a 2.95% Non Sterling Transaction fee at their branded ATMs in Spain and the Canaries, so althought it's better than most it's not the best debit card choice.Starling (worldwide) and MetroBank (SEPA region) are totally fee free in Spain - although the ATM's owning bank may impose a user fee, which is outside the control of your issuing bank.I believe Virgin also do a fee free card, but I'm not up speed on the details.Santander require a minimum £500 monthly deposit for the fee free deal. Starling and MetroBank have no hoops to negotiate.MetroBank are VERY quick to action applications online and deliver the card to your address.Barclaycard Rewards credit card is fee free - unless they've changed Ts&Cs.

It may have changed, but when I opened a Metrobank account in branch a few years ago the card was issued while I waited.

I'm sure that is the practice - but noT convenient if you are not near a branch, which means a large area of the UK.

Why do you keep repeating your error?
Look at the PDF to which you linked in your other thread again. The 2.95% is for ATM other than Santander Spain.

The leaflet which came with my new debit card indicated the non Sterling transaction fee applied.I'll need to call Santander for clarification.0

It's reasonably clear that they won't. No fee in this case means no fee.0 -
The most recent written response I received from Santander (using online chat service) advised there would be no fees. However it also stated that you must use a Visa debit card - and my new card is Mastercard. It also quoted a Non Sterling Transaction Fee of 2.75% (for non Santander) which appears to contradict the newer published 2.95% rate.1
