HSBC New Vertical Card

Looks like HSBC has gone vertical with their card now and ditched the lions on front. Still a Visa though unlike FD.

Hm..  The HSBC logo is on the front side twice and the name is very close to the chip. I don't really like it. Definitely not as nice as for example TSB. I'm wondering what the card for Advance account will look like, but I'm keeping the old one.

I hate my FD master debit.  It doesn't even look like a bank card.  Agree TSB is better.

Don't know what's happening with banks with redesigning there cards. 

Old cards were better.  I remember my Midlands Auto cheq card.

I think many banks are trying to make their cards look simple and not cluttered, but in the process, many of them just look ugly and dull. I think portrait cards are also harder to make look simple but nice to look at so the switch to portrait cards for many isn't helping.

I’ve just bought a new iPhone.
In the process of adding my cards back to Apple Wallet, it has forced through the new Debit Card design, even though the physical card still has over 3 years left with the Lion design. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Credit Card Lion design is still intact, for now.

The double logo is horrible. The lions are historic to the brand and have been through a few wars themselves. (The statutes)

Most of HSBC elsewhere appears to still have the lion so perhaps the UK is a test market. Shame

My HSBC Canada card has this new design (and looks a bit nicer in person than in the photo), I'd imagine it's being rolled out globally.

I don't think they'd need a "test market" for a debit card design. While people do have opinions on how nice cards look, virtually no-one actually cares!

The advanced card is slightly better but design is wrong with two logos.
