I have just downloaded mine in CSV and I get three columns, date, details and amount. I agree that it needs some tidying up. It is not as good as Santander and way behind NatWest.
NatWest gives you columns forDate, Type (ie DD), Description, Value, Balance, Account Name and Account Number.
You can also download all accounts at once (if you want) including credit card, current account and savings accounts.
PS This is for the current account. As per a previous poster, it may be that you are specifically referring to a credit card. Unfortunately, I do not have an HSBC credit card. I do have a Santander credit card and will see if that has a download facility.0 -

- logon
- open the account summary page
- click on the "Search" button (upper righthand side) and select your date or other criteria
- click on "View results"
- finally, click on "Download results" to select CSV/OFX/QIF format.
You should be able to do this with HSBC current, savings & credit card accounts. [Not having an HSBC credit card, I haven't tested the HSBC download function for a credit card account, but I does work with a First Direct credit card account, so I've assumed that HSBC will have the same facility.]
Note that it's not possible to search for HSBC current account transactions older than a couple of months, so for older transactions it would be necessary to resort to PDF statements, but if you're doing this regularly you shouldn't have a problem with downloading transactions via a CSV file.

Curiously, my regular saver allows a search back to 5/10/20200 -
Santander allows downloads of the monthly statement credit card transactions into the following formats.
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Money (QIF)
Intuit Quicken (QIF)
Adobe Acrobat
TXT
This is the same as for current accounts although current accounts also have the midata (csv) download option as well allowing several months of transactions in one file.0
