Applying for a new credit card after buying a house

Hi guys,
Me and my partner received the keys to our new house yesterday, we are both so happy! We were approved for our mortgage about 8 weeks ago, but only completed yesterday. We are now in the process of moving out of our flat and changing our address to our new home.
We would now like to start buying things for the house (carpets, furniture etc), but we want to take out a new credit card to help us get started. I have had credit cards for years (only 1 at a time) and I usually renew once my 0% period ends. My current one ran out in June, but I didn't apply for a new card because I didn't want to hurt our mortgage application. So my question is this -
How long after receiving the keys/completing should we wait until we apply for a new card? I read that that we shouldn't do anything until we receive the keys, which is why we have waited. However, I dont want to apply if its still too soon.
Thanks,
Daniel

Apply now you've completed. However, with a recent move and a limited history, don't be disappointed if you're declined. Try every couple of ,months or so but don't go overboard.
Over time, try to get at least two or three cards. It gives you more options and makes you look a lower risk.0
