Page error during credit card application

Hi everyone,

Hoping some of you lovely people can help. I applied for a balance transfer credit card deal with Sainsbury’s Bank this week (found the deal through MSE).

I got through the application and was told my application had been accepted. I started reading through all the documents/terms on the page itself, which took a little while.

However, once I got to the bottom, ready to electronically sign to accept, when I did so I was presented with an error page which said ‘We’re carrying out maintenance. Online banking is unavailable at the moment. We’re sorry for any inconvenience. Bear with us, we’ll be back up and running in the morning.’

Unfortunately, I now don’t have access to the offer any more, but they have already done the credit check and made the offer. I don’t want them to do the credit check again as this would be needless and could affect my credit score.

I called their customer service the next morning to explain and ask for assistance, and after 25mins of being on hold then speaking to an agent who couldn’t find my details on the system and had to ask me to spell my name and other details 4-5 times, she then simply hung up on me.

Not sure what my options are now - does anyone have any advice or had a similar experience?

Thanks in advance for your help and expertise!

I have a Sainsbury's credit card and tried to login in earlier. They are having an 'outage' to carry out routine maintenance. Which is very frustrating. It may be that your phone call ended at the time the outage started as there probably wouldn't have been any warning.

They say they'll be back tomorrow - but no time is given.

So tomorrow you could go to the following Sainsbury's link -

    https://www.sainsburysbank.co.uk/credit_cards/support/support_creditcards

Let your curser hover over 'credit cards' on the left hand side and a smaller page pops up. In that section there's a section on the left called 'apply' and then under that it says 'retrieve an application'.  Have a look in there and see if your application has gone through. If not, I'd get back on the phone and complain and ask them to get on with it. In fact I'd probably complain anyway.

I'd also complain to this forum site on -

forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com  -  for recommending Sainos, who have behaved abominably.

I hope you get it sorted, I have to say that I've never had any trouble with my Sainsbury's credit card and I hope you don't have any more either. If they DO do another hard search you can appeal to the Financial Ombudsman to get it removed. I have done that in the past and was successful, so it's a possibility and I wouldn't worry too much. First see if the application is still online and take it from there.

PS Nobody but you sees that credit score but lenders DO see hard searches. As I've said, that can be rectified.

If you'd bothered to read the OP you'd see that they already spoke to CS and the application isn't on the system.
