Not specifically related to the posts in this thread but I've a question. Last year I received a £65 rebate from BG for no service and this year I am having to chase them for a service again....I now have one booked for November which is the earliest date. This issue I have is that if I were to book a service with BG outside of a contract, then the discounted cost to me is £102.50 or £123 non-discounted (from their website). Should they not refund me the equivalent money? On pressing them on this matter they simply said that's what the company have stipulated but not contractually....is this worth challenging formally? Their service teams (and good luck getting through to them in their appalling telephone systems) just constantly shrug their shoulders.0

Customer service have no say in what you are charged . They can only tell you wha the powers that be at British Gas have decided. Whether they think it is right or not is immaterial.
You need to make a formal complaint to British Gas https://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-support/make-a-complaint-select-type0 -
No harm in challenging it, but I suspect they'll argue that they're subsidising the service cost with profit on the insurance element, so what you're getting back is the actual cost of the service to them.MJNSE said:Not specifically related to the posts in this thread but I've a question. The whole situation has just become even more surreal. I had a text, and e-mail, from British Gas saying my annual service was due and to book it on-line, which I have now done. Service won't be until November - if it happens. Let's see what comes next.
