Replace IHD

Hello,
I have a dumb SMETS1 Smart Meter that hasn't been updated (I have no flashing WAN light, so it may never?!). My IHD which half-worked and still displayed some usage has stopped working completely (the display has gone). It's from when I originally signed up with British Gas back in 2016.
Am I able to just buy a replacement IHD and pair it somehow with the meter or is it more complicated than that?
I'm currently with Igloo but have just changed to Sainsbury's Energy, due to swap over in a few weeks time.

Hildebrand will take any action needed to link their IHD to your meter. That said, do you have a HAN light on your comms hub? If this is not flashing and there is no WAN light then this suggests a comms hub failure. I would talk to your supplier about it fitting replacement SMETS2 meters. I may be wrong but I think that Sainsburys is now a white label supplier which partners with E.oN Next.1 -

Sadly they've sold out of their IHD, and it also says they only work on SMETS1 meters that have already been migrated, which mine hasn't. Also tried their Bright app and didn't get very far.0 -
You'll have to wait till your supply moves to sainsburys then say your smart meter isn't working and see if they'll replace it with a smets2, then you'll get a new ihd1
