Moving house and utility point no longer trading

Hi,

I have a move date of September 28th. So today I contacted my supplier utility point to tell them and to see what the procedure is. They have ceased trading a few days ago and there is no one to communicate with.
Any advice please. Do I wait for the new supplier to contact me? Do I cancel my DD?  Obviously I will take meter readings on the day I move,  but I don't want to have no energy at my new premises when I move in.

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

M

Your new premises are not involved as you don't take your contract with you.  The electric will be on.

When you move in you MUST contact the existing supplier, give them new readings. You will be their customer until you switch to someone new and you will get a bill from them for that period based on their standard rates.

As regards your present property - read your meters when you move out, take photo's and cancel your DD. Normally you would ring UP . Best of luck !
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

How would that affect energy at your new premises? You'll contact the existing supplier and give them your opening readings and then switch away once your account has been set up with them. As far as your old address goes, if you are unable to submit a closing reading it will be estimated or the new occupant's opening reading will be used. I suggest you submit a reading to Utility Point ASAP via their portal so any future estimate can be based on that.
  • Excellent advice from posters above.

    I would reinforce
    1. Take a reading now, upload it to utility point on their portal
    2. Take a reading on move out date, take and keep a photo of the meter too (in case of problems down the line)
    3. Hopefully you'll know by the 25th who the solr for utility point is. Contact them on or near move out day and ask for advice on the situation, and attempt to submit the final reading.....there may be a waiting game to receive this final bill.
    4. On move in date, Take pictures of your new meters and meter readings. Contact the present supplier of your new place and register with them, then do a price comparison to see who would be cheapest for you. Try and estimate your usage in kwh based on current usage and on size of new property.

    Good luck
  • Thank you thank you people. That's a great help. There is no way I can speak to anyone at UP. I will take readings today and record it on their portal.

    Thank you
  • Quick update:

UP will not allow new registration on there portal so I can't give them a reading. I did not register previously. I will wait for the company who is taking them over to contact me, hopefully in the next few days. For my own peace of mind I have taken a reading today and another on my move date.
