  • i have no idea why sole traders get business phone contracts, they are abot 2x the cost as personal ones and offer no additional benefit.

Could have easily got a £100 android phone off ebay and got a unlimited minutes sim card for £6 a month.

A sole trader is just a legal structure, it doesnt mean they are a one man band (though most are). If you have a dozen employees and for some reason have decided to remain a sole trader rather than incorporate (solicitors didnt used to be able to operate as a limited company for example - not sure if its changed) then it can start to make sense having a business contract to provide your employees with a company phone and ensure you retain the number when they are no longer employees etc.

tanks for the explanation of the definition. Can you now refer back to the OP. Does it sound like it's a single owner operator business or a business employing other people?

I have been a self employe dperson all my working life, I also have a ltd company that employs one person so I know about small busines structures.. I have seen personally the sort of contracts on offer. for business mobile and business broadband users. They say that these services are better quality - I haven't seen anything in the specs that corroborate this.
