Nationwide Switch Offe

I opened a Nationwide Savings account with a £1 then once it was active I did the switcheroo from an existing bank account.

All worked quite well, got the text from Nationwide to say I'd qualified but when I got the bonus it was just £100 not the £125 which I thought you got if you was an existing member, not the end of the world as pleased I got £100 but wondered if I had missed a step?

Comments

  • Did you close the savings account before the switch was completed?

As you can see from the main Nationwide switch thread, you are in good company.

This wouldn't make a difference anyway as long as the current account was open before the savings was closed. I only got £100 and I've been a member for ages; someone messed up at Nationwide HQ.

Maybe, although the terms and conditions say that

    12. You must have been a member on the day before you requested the switch and still be a member when your switch completes. If you’re switching a joint account, just one of you needs to meet the membership requirements.
I can't realistically see how that's possible unless they're referring to you closing the qualifying account before the switch completes.  If the current account is closed before the switch completes then the switch can't complete and obviously you wouldn't qualify.

Only one way to find out..
  • Happened to a few other people as discussed in the other Nationwide thread. Most recent post says that someone who was short changed has since received their additional £25 after Nationwide looked into it. I'd suggest opening a complaint and it should get sorted if you've met all the other terms.

No maybe - you obtain BS membership from the first qualifying product and it's continuous if you keep any qualifying BS product open.
  • Just this minute got a text from them (unprompted) to say I should have got £125 instead of £100
