State pension withdrawals

The PO has made it virtually impossible for me as a disabled person confined to my home to withdraw my husbands pension and the accumulated amount is in the thousands. I have been withdrawing the maximum each week using my carers. They are now refusing unless I can nominate somebody. As the carers are often moving on this is not feasible. I strongly feel that the PO is retaining this money illegally. Has anybody any advice please?

Why isn't your husband collecting his pension?
Or is this your pension received because of his contributions?0 -
Is your husband also disabled?0

The PO isn't retaining the money illegally. I'm not sure if you've heard but the PO is stopping the Post Office Card Account in November 2021, and the DWP will then only pay to a bank account (unless some exceptional circumstances apply).
You will need to apply to close your Card Account using form P6703 which hopefully your carers can get for your from the Post Office. On the form you can specify the bank account details where you want the balance to be paid to. (You can call 0345 722 3344 to get the form, and they may be able to to help transfer your balance to a bank account immediately.)
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
If you need the cash to give to someone to do some shopping for you, your husband might want to consider a Starling Connected card https://www.starlingbank.com/blog/introducing-connected-cards-for-personal-accounts/
what else do you need cash for?0 -
@Patty4 Have you got a bank account ?
I don't understand why if you are withdrawing in cash the maximum amount of the pension why the Post Office has any of you/your husbands cash /Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
