waiting for the chain to form

I'm in a similar boat OP. Offered on a property a month ago, but chain isn't complete yet. Initially my seller offered on a property and got it accepted but I heard from EA yesterday that she's having affordability issues with the flat so she'll need to look for another one...with the market starting to dry up as we approach winter I don't feel too confident that I'll be able to move in before the year ends.0

I only buy if top of chain is willing to move out in a reasonable amount of time, and people are happy to rent.
some on here think that is ridiculous and think we should all wait around for ever, I'm ok with that and I just move on. It's always worked for me.
just completed in chain of 4 where top of chain have moved into rented.0
