I lent my cat to a friend who had a bump with another car
He took out his own temporary insurance with Simply insured including excess cover.
The accident was reported to the insurer and to the other driver's insurance.,
So far the insurance company haven't communicated on what to do next.
My friend who caused the accident is. Concerned about getting my scratched wing repaired.
It's fully comp with excess covered so while waiting for s response I'd like to know

1. Is the damage to my car covered?
2. Must we wait for them to contact us before getting it fixed?
3.Will it be necessary to involve my own insurance since I wasn't driving and the driver had taken out his own cover?
Any other useful advice also welcomed

"I lent my cat to a friend"Can't help but it might be an idea to edit the typo. It's very tempting to add a silly remark!0

1. Yes, if his insurance was fully comp.
2. Get on the phone to them, and get it moving.
3. No. The insurer ask about incidents you, or people driving on your policy, have been involved in. This involves neither.1 -
Whilst AdrianC is correct there is some chance the third party insurer will do an MID check on the vehicle which will identify your insurance policy and therefore they reach out to your insurers.
I personally wouldn't prewarn them as that will likely cause future challenges but just be aware and ideally make sure you have your friends insurance details to pass them on the off chance that it happens. If it does then it gets more complicated on the question of if you have ever had a claim as its likely your insurers would register a claim in that instance whilst they establish they dont have to act as RTA insurer of the vehicle.0 -

I don't think that is fair, and it goes against the whole rationale of temporary cover and the way it is advertised, but the insurer will always try to recover costs from elsewhere.
A similar thing happens with travel insurance - they try to put half the claim on your contents insurance.0
