Court Claim on unpaid PPI fees on old name?

Afternoon guys,
Asking for a friend.
He recently reclaimed PPI via a Claims company, he did quite a few claims, however, he did not end up paying the claims company their share as now he cannot afford it.
The funny thing is, the PPI claim & original loan, etc, was on his former name which he changed in 2009.
And, the claim was paid into the Barclays account in his old name which apparently was still open?..
Anyway, it has been a while and now the claims company are sending Letter before Court notices, etc and want to settle this. So my question is, can they do this as he's no longer known by that name? Can a CCJ be issued? His name was changed in 2009 and they keep addressing him as his former name on original documentation.
Thanks guys!

Yes, that's fine. He's still the same person, despite his change of name.0

Nothing funny there. If your friend didn't change his name at the bank then they wouldn't know it needed changing. So my question is, can they do this as he's no longer known by that name?yesCan a CCJ be issued?yes.
Changing your name does not absolve you of your liabilities. You the individual is responsible. Not the name you choose to be known by.
