Stamp Duty

Hi wondered if someone could help. I have two buy two let properties but rent myself. I’m currently purchasing my own home. I’ve been told I have to pay the surcharge as it’s a additional property. Is this true as it will be my own residence? Thanks J

Yes.
You currently own two properties.
At the end of the transaction, you will own three properties.
Absolutely 100% you owe the +3% (assuming England).1 -
Why do all threads with 'stamp duty' in the title always end up with OP being told yes the additional stamp duty will be required?
"I have 17 properties but live in my parents basement but can I avoid the additional 3%"
I think the hit rate must be 99.9%.2 -
Because 99.9% of these threads are people who deep down inside know damn well that they're due to pay it, but want to be told they're not...980233 said:Why do all threads with 'stamp duty' in the title always end up with OP being told yes the additional stamp duty will be required?

Unless there is another property you do not mention which you sold / disposed of within the last three years and which you also lived in within the last three years. Assuming you are buying in England.3
