Gas /electricity help please

I got myself into debt Approx 2018 with S/Power agreed amount to pay monthly back trouble is ive asked repeatedly for them to separate balance of what’s owed and my bills as have no clue what’s been paid off and what my actual bills are they don’t even separate my monthly dd it’s taken in one amount I want to change supplier but can’t as I’m told I still owe and with all what’s going on it’s ridiculous they just ignore me I’m a pensioner on benefits I’m on standard rate  anyone help

Some more details please. Gas or electric or both ?

   What was the payment plan for the deficit.?   

Have you a bill from about 12 months ago - can you see what the meter reads were - you are looking for a bill with the letter A or C against it.  Can you read your meters today ?

According to your latest bill are you still in debit ? How much ?

You are probably stuck with SP (until you have cleared the debt) but no need to be on the standard tariff - ask to be transferred to their best tariff - details will be on your bill.

Sorry, not sure what to suggest, but welcome to MSE anyway.

I realise you've been a member here a lot longer than I have, a lot longer than many posters here, over a decade, but this appears to have been the first opportunity to welcome you.

I do hope you return as I see you left immediately after posting. Perhaps with some more details we may be able to help more?

I’m not sure if I’m doing this correctly 
It’s dual fuel like I say haven’t a clue what I owe as it’s not separate I find the whole online reading bills etc a nightmare I’m going to try and get copy of all direct debits paid to S/P since this started then
honestly whom to ask so can be sorted
my trouble is I just put it off and hope it will sort itself out ! But now with prices escalating have to do something now
It’s finding someone to talk to who knows
best way to go about it

Two easy things you can do right now to help to clarify the situation.

• If you haven't already done so, set up an online account and then you can see what's happening.
• Read the meters on the wall and send gas and electricity readings to Scottish power today.  The gas reading must be m3 or cu.ft3, NOT kWh.

Have you a family member of friend who can help you.

Re your DD's  - these will be on your bank statements

Lets see if we can sort the electric first

When pressing buttons look  for those marked kWh - there may be 3 - R1, R2 and Total (=R1 + R2) 

Have you a copy bill from 2018 when this came to a head ?
