Access to my neighbour's mortgage details

Options
Hi everyone,

My neighbour is refusing to pay service charges. I am reluctant to take this to court, and understand that the mortgage provider can force their client to pay service charges. My question is: how do I find the name of my neighbour's mortgage provider? I know I have to go on the Land Registry website, but I can't make my way through the meanders of pages to get to the right one. Please can someone help me by giving me the web address that will enable me to access, or at least request my neighbour's mortgage details?

Thanks in advance!

    HMLR - Find a Property
You'll need to pay £3 for the title deeds.
  • Thank you!!
I found what I was looking for, but it says:

"Sorry, there is no price paid/value stated information available for this property"

Does this mean that I will not have access to the name of the neighbour's mortgage provider?

Have they owned the property for a long time? I think compulsory registration was only fully enacted in 1990 so if there hasn't been a transaction since then the deeds may not have been registered - I'm not sure though, somebody else may know the history of registration better.

ETA: Just had another look. HMLR didn't start listing the price paid until 2000 and there are various reasons why they still may not list the price paid. Does the page show that you can buy the deeds?
  • Thank you to those who have replied. I confirm that the neighbour has a mortgage, although they might have taken it out before 2000.

On the webpage I have the option of purchasing the title register and the title plan- I don't know if this means that I can buy the deeds- does this mean it has the info I'm looking for?

If the info is available it will be on the title register

It's the section in the Charges Register you need to download.

  • Are you a freeholder?  If not then I doubt the lender will take any information or requests from you.
  • I am a freeholder (property is share of freehold)
  • Is this is an incorporated residents association or is this a shared ownership scheme?  If the latter, it is the agent that will deal with the dissident neighbour.
