Bought a XL British Lions rugby top for my dad for Fathers day yesterday on my way home from work (cant see him next week so going tomorrow). When I got it home I tried it on and thought this is a bit big. Looking at the label it was an XXL that had obivously been put on the wrong hangar.
Anyways, took it back to my local store today and seeing as they didnt have any XLs in stock I asked for a refund (as they had them next door at JJB at £5 more but would price match).
I was refused and only offered credit with the explanation that they dont do refunds unless the item is faulty. At this point I asked for the manager who trotted off the same excuses. I pointed out it was in my statutory rights to have a refund to no avail.
I was told credit or exchange in no uncertain terms. I wasnt up for an argument at 9.30am so I asked him to find the nearest store with one in stock which he reluctantly agreed to do. I ended up having to drive 18 miles to The Fort in Birmingham to get it exhanged. Not happy.
Was the manager right or was I right that I was entitled to a refund under my statutory rights?

Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

No you are not entitled to a refund under your statutory rights. You would have been if it was faulty. It was not, you made a mistake. It would have been good customer relations to give you a refund but they only have your word for it that it was on the wrong hanger anyway. They did not have to offer you a credit or exchange either. That service is in addition to your statutory rights and it is the prerogative of any company whether they offer it or not.0

ooooohhhh...I HATE that shop!!!
If you've ever tried pushing a pram or wheelchair around you'll know why. There's barely enough room for an able bodied person to squeeze around the displays.....and the assistants..... the slowest, rudest most ignorant people I've ever come across. (they must have a policy on attitude when they employ them)
I'd rather pay a few quid more somewhere else.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
Thanks BossyBoots, it would have been good service for them to refund the item. After all many other shops have done the same in the past. I'll know better next time I go in there. Alternatively I'll use them as a price guide for others to price match too and shop elsewhere.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Don't go next door to JJB either because you don't get any better service there. and even if you were deserving of a refund, they wouldn't give you one!Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0
