This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Really good to see more posters on this thread.
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, cloudy start and sun/showers forecast, cooler though.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a use up of LO's mash, yorkshires, beef, so added new potatoes, veg and gravy for myself and DH (I had the beef he had sausages as he'd moaned about the beef on Sunday - I reheated it in the Ninjia and it was really tender). Tonight will be either gammon or chicken I can decide later.
Yesterday work was ok, busy as I had several things to do but got going with those and today is my half day so will be pleased to finish at lunchtime.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.Yesterday I made it up to Oban in good time and found a parking space right outside the BHF shop where I encountered the rudest young man ever. Some people seem to get power crazy when volunteering 😡 anyway, I left the many bags and shot out quickly. 5hen I did a little shopping before going home. The appointment with the audiologist was fine, she told me to use the hearing aid every day to readjust my hearing with it. Certainly when I put it on again I could hear better so I'll see how it goes over the next six months. My trip into town was blighted by two big sets of roadworks, it's a small town so everywhere was jammed. I took rubbish to the tip and found myself in a queue on the main road where major resurfacing was being done and traffic taken through by a convoy car.The new duvet didn't arrive, a text came through to say it's coming today. I'd forgotten that next day delivery takes an extra day to here as things are delivered by sub-contractors. My fingers are crossed!Last night the power went off at 8.20p.m, complete darkness as there are no street lights for eight miles. I phoned to report it I was told that there was 440 homes without power. As I was already in bed watching TV I listened to a podcast via my phone and went to sleep. Was woken with a start when the power was restored at 10.30pm as my smart bedside lamp lit up. 😀 I had to reset it, and the one downstairs, and then was wide awake for hours afterwards. This morning the 'blind' man is coming, I really want the motorised rollers in soon. I think I've decided that the back bedroom doesn't need a set but I'll make a final firm decision when the chap is here, it'll depend on cost really. For now I'm going to do a little more surfing before starting my day. Happy Wednesday to all.12

            Morning All
Misty this morning but dry for now, we had really heavy rain yesterday teatime, noticed that the new gutter wasn't doing it's job so someone coming to look at that this morning. Builder friend was here yesterday to do a few jobs, seems like one step forwards and two back at the moment!
One positive teacher yesterday and another few off for a test, I shall be really lucky to avoid this thing. DD has just messaged to say that she has been feverish all night so she's also going for a test - I did call there yesterday with supplies but stayed in the garden. Fingers crossed.
Hope you got your new tyre nmlc.
I also have the 'blind' man coming Gers but not for a couple of weeks yet, he must be busy.
DD, DS1 and I were going to meet up later for dinner as it's the anniversary of losing their Dad, not a day I really want to remember but they still need to do something. DD obviously not coming so will see what DS1 wants to do. Will phone DS2 later.
Glad you had a good holiday Ruby, you certainly needed it. Please send my best to Marie if you message her.
Have a happy Wednesday if you can, hugs to those in need. Take care.XX11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The mornings seem to be getting dark earlier with each day that passes. The forecast is better than yesterday. We did get heavy rain for about an hour, but not the full day as they promised! Today is forecast to be milder with no rain.
Had my usual good meet up with oldest friend yesterday and enjoyed our lunches. We are however, 18 months on, still mourning the demise of our favourite coffee shop which suited our needs perfectly!
Today is bus trip day. Only two of us again as our third buddy managed to come back from Crete with two injured fingers (trapped in a taxi door - ouch ouch ouch!) She was at A & E on return home and an X-Ray confirms they are fractured. She has an appointment today at the Fracture Clinic. So we two will decide when we meet if it's to be Ilkley or Skipton. Decisions decisions! As long as a nice lunch and bottle of wine are involved we are not bothered!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or fed up. It was nice to get news of MARIE and welcome home RUBY, your holiday sounded wonderful. Take care one and all and stay safe xx ps SCARLET I have ordered one of the belts you mentioned. xx

Good morning, gloomy and raining here, though I'm saying "gloomy" looks as if it might brighten already..Had an ok day yesterday, I did a lot of sorting out of my cardmaking stuff, and set up 2 folders of items for Dgd, some cheap card blanks, paper, brightly coloured gem decorations etc. I've got some good quality card blanks in my stash that I don't want her to use, and some other things, so I've put them out of the way. She can have free rein with other things, and I can die cut shapes for her, so she's still got plenty of stuff there.I started sorting out summer clothes to put away as well Carolbee, i know we may still have good days, but autumn seems to be coming on quickly this year.Belated anniversary wishes for yesterday Rosy, hope you enjoyed your dayRuby, it sounds as if you had a fabulous holiday, you needed it I think, after difficult times earlier this year.Taff glad you got your money back, this kind of scamming is all too common now,I've had two hearing aids for 5 years now Gers, and I'm so pleased I got them, they make a huge difference. DH has had his for years, they're heavy duty ones, he's deafer than me.Congratulations to Lee, Dumpling, he's doing well.TA, I can PM you with more detail about the belts if you would like, they're really good.Nanny, please take care of yourself, thinking of you.Hope everyone has a good day , take care foks.12

Morning all,It's a glorious day here but I didn't go up to the park, just the woodland across the road as I need to prop my eyelids open - DDog woke me about 3 am, and I ended up on the sofa, think she just wanted to be near me DGC pickup from school day today so I need to prep tea, they have gone back to precovid times, at the end of summer I was still getting DGS at 3 o'clock but now the KS2 kids come out at 3.35. By the time we've walked back to the car and driven home, I need something easy to bung in the oven DGC pickup from school day today so I need to prep tea, they have gone back to precovid times, at the end of summer I was still getting DGS at 3 o'clock but now the KS2 kids come out at 3.35. There are so many places shut down in the town centre, I'd be hard pressed to find somewhere to meet a friend.Scarlet, I'm the same with my card things and the DGC, and have resorted to hiding things in the past, though since DS2 moved out they don't spend as long here needing entertainment/occupying I'm thinking a chicken traybake.((Hugs Camelot)) not an easy day.Gers sounds like you had a busy day.Nelski, miss your posts & hope you are doing ok.TA glad you enjoyed your lunch despite missing your old haunt. Morning all; dull here again.
Yesterday started off wet but then slowly improved. I got my food shopping and laundry done but no baking, so ought to make something for the cake tin today. I also have a bit of sewing to do but will ask for DH's help with that. His father was a tailor and DH has inherited some of his skills.
Last night's Morris dancing at the pub ended up with me having to be a solo musician as all the other musicians had problems and couldn't get there! Playing solo with no notice is not my thing at all but we found 5 dances that I could play so it wasn't a completely wasted evening. I think we were also pleased to finish early as it was getting dark so quickly.
I've seen a good looking Chinese style braised beef with ginger recipe online this morning so have saved that and will check the ingredients with a view to making it this week. Autumn is fast approaching it seems
 Have a super Wednesday everyone10

            Morning all
Thank you for the welcome back its certainly nice to be back in our own bed ! Its dull and overcast here and I have more washing to do so it will have to go in the td, I think another three loads and then we will be done.
Suitcases were emptied yesterday and taken upstairs so they need to be put back in the loft, actually I ripped a hole in mine trying to pick it up so will need to invest in another one before we go away again.
I have a phone meeting with Occ Health today to discuss my return to work, I am quite anxious about it all but I am just going to have to be honest and tell them I cannot do the job that they want me to do, its just too physical for me now, I hope they have an alternative for me, although I wont hear today as occ health have to do a report and then send it off to the managers to discuss so it will be next week at the earliest.
I got a chicken at the shop yesterday so will cook that for dinner with some roasted garlic new potatoes and some salad, I need to arrange a click and collect for food too as we are running low, dd can run and collect it for me.
We have to do our day 2 return tests today and then test to release on Saturday so all being well we will be allowed out on Saturday, we still have to do the day 8 tests as well though, so many hoops to jump through !
Nice to see some new posters have arrived while I have been away.
 Have good days all xxx9
