Hi All, 

I'm thinking of switching to Santander and setting up a 123 account, however, is the cashback better than the £2 fee? For example I pay my rates (Council Tax, I'm in Northern Ireland) annually, would this be covered? 

Also does it matter for the switch bonus that I already have a joint account with Santander?

How much cashback you get depends on your bills. There‘s a calculator on the Santander website, in the FAQ section for the 123 Lite.

You should be able to pay Council Tax monthly if that suits you better. At least we can do so in England, hopefully it‘s the same for NI.

For the switch bonus, it doesn‘t matter what accounts you already hold with them

As above it depends on your bills - use their calculator to determine if it is suitable for you. Personally, my bills are so low that I actually lose money on the 123 Lite account, so I downgraded mine to an Everyday account when they last increased the fees.

I wonder how long it'll be before they pull the 2% cashback on energy bills!!

Not long at a guess.  I give it a couple of months.
