Nope, they're made from the same silica compounds as any other tyre.facade said:dj1471 said:
First they insisted that budget tires were a better choice as they’re less likely to suffer this kind of problem…?Landsails etc don't, as they are made from cheap "proper old fashioned" rubber and fillers.
There's next to no rubber in tyres any more.0 -
Wrong, they still use a percentage of natural rubber in tyres, around 20% in most.BOWFER said:

I don't suppose the likes of Continental know what they're talking about either then (an that was on of the first pages I came across).BOWFER said:

"1. Tread. Made of synthetic and natural rubber."

I even watched a programme a couple of weeks ago at Avon tyres in the UK who said exactly the same thing.0 -
Agreed.jimbo6977 said:Nothing wrong with brand A on the front and brand B on the back.
Used to bug me when our company cars were on full maintenance and the tyre places would put different models of tyre on each axle though.
For example, both fronts would be Pirelli but one would be a P7 and one would be a a P6000 (or whatever).
It never affected driving, but it annoyed me to see different tread patterns on the same axle.

So no comeback to my reply then, and I see you've now conveniently edited your earlier post (and 20% is still far from "next to no rubber").BOWFER said:

Why is it so hard for posters to put their hands up and admit they were wrong.
